As we step into May, I have been thinking a lot about the spaces we inhabit, both digitally and mentally.

Wouldn’t you agree that much of our online consumption (especially reading and listening) has become passive? I often feel as though we skim, we scroll, only to wonder where the knowledge went a day later… evaporating before we can truly integrate it.

Behind the scenes, I have been focused on building a cozier infrastructure: a Phygital Wondering Studio that champions process over polish and honors our biological pacing. The best part? It’s mobile as well, and transforms into the Wandering Studio, when we take it physically on an adventure.

That is why I am so thrilled that the doors to the Visual Chapter Book Club (VCBC) Beta are open! 📚🖍️

Traditional book clubs can sometimes feel exhausting for introverted or neurodivergent nervous systems. The VCBC is the cozy, “perfectly imperfect” alternative, where you get to Bring Our Own Books (BYOB) and gently map them out visually… together.

There’s no pressure to speak, no mandatory reading speeds, and no rigid creativity pathway. Just a warm invitation to grab a cuppa, read an intriguing book, and dabble in a creative practice, alongside fellow visual thinkers.

I will then be taking the Wandering Studio overseas during the final week of May, soaking in all the travel sparks and sharing my creative journey on Substack Notes. Stay tuned!

Traditionally, today is for resolutions. But as you may have seen me talk about on Notes this past week, I don’t believe in rigid maps. I do however, wholeheartedly believe in a Compass!

In 2025, my compass was “ENOUGH.” It guided me back to myself.

This is it.
My favorite quarter of the year.
The air is getting crisp, the leaves are starting to turn, and there’s a sense of magic and mischief in the air.

This is the season of cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice, and the courage to let go of what no longer serves us, just as the trees let go of their leaves.

It’s a time of transformation, and for me, that always sparks a desire to learn and try new things. I was so grateful to win a spot on a new class with the brilliant this month, and it was a powerful reminder that we are all on a similar never-ending journey of creative learning.

In that spirit of seasonal magic, I’ve even treated myself to a new glasses case that captured the mood serendipitously.

This month is an invitation to embrace that playful, curious, and slightly mischievous energy in our own creative work.

🗝️ A Big Announcement: The Atelier is Open!

For the past month, The Wonder Atelier has been our private, cozy space for paid “Wonder Weaver” members.

But for the magical final quarter of the year, I want to do something special.

For October and November, I am re-opening the doors to The Wonder Atelier for everyone.

This is an act of community and generosity. For the next two months, all subscribers—free and paid—will get the full “Wonder Weaver” experience. This includes access to all posts and their comment sections, our monthly “Co-Wondering Space” meetups, and our full archive.

This special “Open Atelier” season will run until my birthday, December 6th, at which point the doors will close to new members for a period of reflection as we prepare for 2026. Welcome to August!

I snapped this picture today while walking across the famous London Bridge this morning, and it felt like the perfect metaphor for our journey.

Last month, we built bridges.

We connected with new community members, explored how to bridge the gap between our ideas, and even began to bridge the divide between our human creativity and our AI partners.

That journey leads us perfectly into our theme for this month, which is all about learning to navigate this new landscape with intention.

Our theme for August is: The Creative AI Compass: Navigating Our Tools with Purpose.

This month isn't just about the "how-to" of AI tools. It's about the "how-we."

• How do we partner with these new technologies in a way that amplifies our unique voice, not dilutes it?

• How do we use them to build our confidence, not our dependency?

• How do we hold the compass and ensure we are always guiding the tools, not the other way around?

It's a big, exciting, and important conversation, and I can't wait to explore it with all of you.

This month, inside The Wonder Atelier, I'm thrilled to announce that we'll be piloting our very first audio post! I'll be adding a short, personal voiceover to one of our Deeper Reflections, and I can't wait to hear what you think.

2. A Creative Expedition: Later this month, I'll be taking some time off to recharge and go exploring. I'm planning a little creative expedition to some new spaces here in the UK, and I'll be capturing field notes and visual sparks along the way. Welcome to July! As a Canadian, July 1st always feels like a homecoming, and I couldn't think of a better day to officially welcome you into our "Open Atelier." 🍁

For the next two months, the doors to our creative space are wide open. I've chosen the theme "The Open Atelier: Building Our Foundation" for this period, because that's exactly what we're going to do, explore all four of our content pillars and build our community's foundation…together. Every piece of content will be completely free for everyone to enjoy.

To guide our adventure, here is our July Exploration Map 🗺️:

• 📍Stop 1: The Creative Toolkit Live! (Thursday, July 3rd at 8:30am🇬🇧BST) A special event to kick off the month! To make our first session as accessible as possible, we're testing a new time. I’ll be hosting a live, interactive brainstorm as I prepare for my keynote panel at the International Sketchnote Camp. We’ll be sketchnoting our biggest questions on the theme of "Human Connection in the Age of AI," and I'll be taking our community's voice with me to the event.

• 📍Stop 2: Wonderings & Wanderings
  We'll take a thoughtful journey into a surprising link I've discovered between the feeling of boredom and the spark of creativity. Expect a deep-dive reflection for us to ponder together.

• 📍Stop 3: The Creative AI-Crossroads
  Our first official lab! We'll fire up the pixels and experiment with using AI tools as a creative muse to generate unique and unexpected color palettes for our projects.

• 📍Stop 4: The Co-Wondering Space
  We will gather for our first official monthly community meetup. This is our dedicated time for connection, sharing, and peer support, with our inaugural theme being "Our Creative Journeys."
